Here at Singing Wings Aviary we specialize in providing Quality birds at Affordable Prices.
The majority of our birds are raised in several bird buildings with access to flights during warmer months. The main bird building is set up with individual breeding cages for the Australian Finches including Gouldians, Stars, Shaftails, Firetails, Cherry Finches, Owls and rare mutation Zebra Finches. Numerous large flight cages which house young birds for sale line the entrance of the finch building. All birds recieve full spectrum lighting and natural sunlight. The climate in our bird buildings is controlled and does not go below 58° in winter or above 95° (hottest days) in summer. We do not keep the bird room at a steady 75-80°'s because we feel it is best to aclimatize the birds to variation in tempertures. This practice seems to make hardier, less fragile birds!
Our intrest at the present time is focused on a variety of Finches & Waxbills including:
Gouldian Finches (Chloebia gouldiae) Java Finches (Padda Oryzivora) Zebra Finches (Taeniopygia guttata castanotis)

Paul Hancock
Name: Paul Hancock
Age: 54
Favorite type of Birds:
All mutations of Lady Gouldians, Golden Pheasants, Diamond Doves, Cut-throat Finch & Mandarin Ducks.
First Bird:
A wild Pigeon I trapped when I was 9 years old.
Experience:
I have been raising one kind of bird or another all my life. As a child, I trapped pigeons & built cages for them at home to breed in. I've kept almost all varieties of cage birds from Cut-throats to Weavers. Pheasants have also been a favorite of mine, at 15 years old I started breeding Golden & Silver Pheasants. I bought a Double-Yellow-Headed Amazon from a breeder for $55.00 when I was 17 years old. My first pair of Quakers costs $35.00 so as you can tell I have been breeding birds for 30 years or more. Gamebirds such as Barbery & Chuckar Partridge have also been a hobby of mine - selectively breeding for the biggest Jumbo Bobwhites. These days my main interest focuses on various Lady Gouldian mutations & a variety of Finches.
Our aviary is now about 300 breeder pairs and growing.
Mandy Currie

Name: Mandy Currie
Age: 29
Favorite Types of Birds:
All mutations of Java Finches, YH-WB-YB Gouldian Finch, European Goldfinches, Cordon Blues & Canaries.
First Bird:
A green "Max" & blue "Angus" Budgie pair my dad bought from a pet store when I was 8 years old.
Experience:
My mom worked at a Pet store the whole time I was growing up so I have been around animals all my life including everything from Chinchillas to Chameleons. She also raised AKC Siberian Huskys & Doberman Pinshers. I handled my first Siberian Husky (Winnie) at an AKC Dog Show in North Carolina when I was 10 years old. My experience with baby birds began when my first pair of budgies had a clutch of babies. I though it was so amazing how something so small and "ugly" could turn into a beautiful bird. At 12 years old I got to handfed baby Cockatiels for my mom's Pet Store. I started working there when I was 13 taking care of the animals, bathing dogs to be groomed, and the dreaded cleaning of the fish tanks! I remember a Indian Ring Neck named Josh that would wander around the store purposely tossing the bird toys off the pegs just to watch me pick them up. I thought he was the coolest since I had only seen one other bird talk before (a Scarlet Macaw at Dr. Pet ). I always wanted to have birds but my mom didn't really want them in the house. After moving out and started my life I have always had birds. The real obsession with birds began when I moved from Ohio to Arkansas about 8 years ago. I bought my first pair of Java Finches, CFW Zebra Finches, then Fawn & Normals. Then I had to have Lovebirds & Cockatiels. I meet up with Paul in 1997 who also had a passion for birds particularly Gouldian Finches. Splitting the cost we bought our first 5 pair of Gouldian Finches and decided with all the birds we had that we would start a bird business. After much deliberation we decided to name our bird business Singing Wings Aviary. We have been breeding & raising birds together ever since.
Genectics has become an intresting hobby of mine.
Anthony Currie

Name: Anthony Currie
Age: 12
Favorite Types of Birds:
Crested Gloster Canaries, European Goldfinches, MaCaws, Lutino Quakers and Lovebirds.
First Bird:
A Peachface Lovebird named "Ping" my mom (Mandy) gave me when I was 8 years old. She handfed it for me.
Experience:
I'm still young so I have a lot to learn about birds but I helpout whenever I can. My mom calls me "The Waterboy" because I help give the birds fresh drinking and bath water everyday. Taking care of birds can be a lot of work especially when it's cage cleaning day but I know birds need someone to help take care of them just like I do. Sometimes I make mistakes on the names like calling European Goldfinches "Utopian Goldfinches" but I can recognize a lot of birds most kids my age have never heard of. I'm learning more about birds all the time and when I get older I want to work with them at a zoo. When I was younger I used to bring birds to school for show and tell, of course my mom came along.
I'm glad mom put me on the website!
Aliyah Currie

Name: Aliyah Currie
Age: 7
Favorite Types of Birds:
Baby birds of any kind, Lutino Cockatiels, Red Factor Canaries and Orange Weavers.
First Bird:
I'm still a little young to have my own bird but I keep our family pets Narley & Toby entertained.
Experience:
I'm still young so I don't get to do a whole lot of helping yet but I really like watching all the birds. I have to be supervised though because one time when I was younger I put some baby birds under my pillow thinking I could take care of them. I killed them and was very sad, so were mom and Paul. I know that I can't do that anymore no matter how much I love the baby birds. I do get to do a few things like help mom feed a few of the finches. When I am older I will help like Anthony does.
I'm glad mom put me on the website too!

At Singing Wings Aviary we also have botanical interest. Before we began raising birds, our main bird building was actually a glass enclosed plant building which housed 300 or more different types of plants. We no longer have all the plants but do still hold on to our favorite Banana plants, Hawaiian Lei plants, Ponytail plants and different types of Bamboo which has been growing for 13 years.
